Christmas Bazaar
The 2010 Pre-School Christmas Fayre was a huge success with great support from parents, families, friends and villagers alike. We raised over £450 which is an excellent sum of money and will be put towards running costs and kitting out the new building next year - a big thank you to all.
The home produce stall went down very well as aways with some delicious cakes and quiches, and the raffle had some excellent prizes including days out and lovely festive goods and the luxury hamper winner was envied by all.
We were extremely well suported by local businesses who took stalls on the night, including jewellery, toys, local produce, handmade crafts and more - grateful thanks to them for their involvement.
Exmoor Zoo
The pre-school enjoyed an educational trip to Exmoor Zoo, despite the weather the children had a great time seeing all the different birds, reptiles and mammals at the zoo. The Meercats were a favourite and the jumping hornbill provided much entertainment. The children experienced creepy crawlies 'hands on' being able to touch a giant snail, hedgehog, spider and a cockroach the children seemed to enjoy this a lot more than some of the Mums!
Sports Day
Sports Day was held on the school playing field the children took part in several races including the egg and spoon race and 400m. The toddlers had a chance to join in racing against each other over shorter distances. After the races the children all shared a lovely picnic outside with their families and were presented with their own 'home-made' medals which was a lovely end to the morning. We also presented Milo and Olivia with good luck cards for their start at primary school in September.
Sponsored Stomp 2010
This year the staff suggested Colours of the Rainbow as our fancy dress theme - this was a fantastic idea and really allowed us to use our imagination - the children all looked fantastic and the parents were all pretty colourful too - the staff also took time to offer face painting which the children really loved. We enjoyed great weather for our walk around the village and we were then rewarded for our stomping with a lovely party snack for the children and parents enjoyed a coffee and a catch up too. We raised a fantastic sum for the pre school which will go towards equipment for our brand new building - due to be completed in January 2011. Please register using this link if you are interested in your child attending the pre school and we can send you a brochure.
CAR BOOT SALE
We have also made a brilliant start to the summer terms fundraising with a very successful Car Boot Sale- held on Sunday 2nd May - thanks to everyone who helped out on the day, it was a brilliant afternoon - the sun even shone for us in the end, a big thanks to Nicky for her Bouncy castle and a big thanks to the girls in charge of catering, we made a fantastic £432.17 profit on the day. Well worth all the effort from everyone
SPONSORED STOMP
Each year we run a sponsored stomp around the village of Bishops Nympton, all of the children and parents take part and we always have a fancy dress theme - this year it was Pyjamas!! In the past we have dressed as flowers or animals or famers! The staff and children love this special morning and we have a little party for the children with food brought in by the parents - it gives us all chance to catch up and have a chat with each other and the staff and to get some exercise while raising money for our preschool. We donate 10% of what we raise to a local charity each year, recipients in the past have included the Children's Ward at NDDH and a local Portage charity.
HALLOWEEN
The children love getting dressed up for our annual Halloween morning, and we think secretly that the staff do as well!! We play party games and have a morning tea party, parents are welcome to stay and join in and have a coffee.
EASTER BONNET MAKING
This is another open morning for the parents to come along and join in, the children love making brightly coloured easter bonnets and showing them off in a group photo.
HARVEST
This year our children went over the Primary School to take part in a Harvest morning, they learnt about healthy food and growing vegetables. They loved joining in the Reception and Year 1 class as lots of our children have siblings at the school. The staff love taking their class over to the school as it really strengthens the links and aids the children who are about to start school. It means that their new teacher is already a familiar face and the classroom is also familiar as well, helping them gain confidence and feel at ease.
